Beach Clean Forrest Beach, Qld
An unexpected stop over in Ingham helped us discover Forrest Beach, a perfect site for our next Beach Clean Up.
Forrest Beach is a small and quiet coastal suburb in the Shire of Hinchinbrook, Queensland.
Unfortunately, no beach can hide away from marine debris. Therefore, it is our responsibility to reduce our waste and keep our beaches clean.
What did we find?
During a 50 minute beach clean up we found 318 pieces of plastic.
Most concerning was a blue balloon caught up in seaweed. Marine life can easily mistake this for food which can be fatal.
Additional items such as a Coca Cola cup, bottle caps and food packets were thoughtlessly left behind on the beach
Make it Fun
Every Beach clean up is important for our marine life.
For this reason, make it fun! Get creative, make a collage and let your imagination run wild.
For example, this weeks beach clean is an Octopus caught in plastic pollution.
Recording our Findings
Instead of throwing it straight into the disposal bins we recorded our Brekkie Beach Clean with Tangaroa Blue.
Tangaroa Blue Foundation is an Australian registered charity focused on the health of our marine environment and monitor the impacts of marine debris along Australia’s coastline.
Now everyone can get involved with their new App.
