Beach Clean Port Douglas Qld
Our ‘Brekkie Beach Clean Port Douglas’ was a great experience. It showed us that anyone can make a difference and make it enjoyable too.
First of all 4 Mile Beach is a stunning spot where many people enjoy their Port Douglas holidays. Unfortunately 4 Mile Beach is not spared when it comes to plastic pollution in our oceans as we found out. Therefore we wanted to do more.
Lets make it a thing!
As a result we came up with ‘Brekkie Beach Cleans’.
Early morning walks along the beach collecting marine debris washed up by the tides, working up that appetite for ‘brekkie’
Someone's board game is missing a piece!
Our ‘Brekkie Beach Clean Port Douglas’ consisted of many small broken down pieces of plastic. But the most noteworthy find was the ‘House’ piece from the board game Monopoly
Additional items we found included bottle tops, straws, ropes, plastic cutlery and even cigarette butts.
Recording what we found
Instead of throwing it straight into the disposal bins we recorded it all with Tangaroa Blue.
Tangaroa Blue Foundation is an Australian registered charity focused on the health of our marine environment and monitor the impacts of marine debris along Australia’s coastline.
Now everyone can get involved with their new App.
